Warning: This Post is Whiney
I’m going crazy right now. I get up and run in the morning, go home and either sleep for a few more hours because I didn’t go to bed early enough the night before or grade papers. Then I get ready for work (shower, hair, get dressed, breakfast), go to the ELI. Class prep and lunch from noon until 2, class from 2 until 3:15, lunch plus ELI grading after. Head to Pummill, class prep until class at 5:30. Home usually between 7:15 and 8. Dinner and some time with Hubby, then grading, grading, grading. Why do I give them so much damn homework?!
Somewhere in there I’m supposed to be creating a syllabus for Phonetics and Phonology, TEFL Methodology, and an advanced language course, plus a course description for TEFL Methodology, and a list of texts and classroom activities for the language course, all for my interview in Giessen in 2 weeks. They need it by the 3rd, so that actually gives me a little over a week. What have I accomplished on this list? Only an outline of the TEFL Methodology syllabus. Great.
I’m driving Korean kids to the Nature Center and to Branson this Friday and Saturday, and even though I am really looking forward to shopping in Branson, I think I’m going to shop for a little bit, then plan myself in the food court thingy with my laptop and textbooks and work on my interview materials. I’ve tried staying up later to work on it, or working on it in the morning, but I feel like my teaching suffers if I cut out prep time, and I just can’t make it on 5 hours of sleep all week. I get grumpy and stoopid. It’s not good to look or sound stupid when you’re a teacher. *sigh*
I’m doing it tonight, though. Tonight I am going to hammer out more on the interview materials. I get to sleep in until 11:00ish tomorrow morning, so I’m just going to stay up until I feel good about the materials I create. I should be able to take a nap Friday evening or go to bed early that night, I guess.
All I have wanted to do for the last week and a half is work on those interview materials. I want this job. Stupid teaching jobs. Stupid homework that needs to be graded. Stupid essays. Grrr. :P
