Berlin Marathon Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 15 Weeks Out

Finally a good week. We pretty much just took it easy this week so that I could fully recover from the awful 8- and 9-mile runs I had in the last two weeks. And it worked. I had three really good runs, all at good paces, too.

Yeah, you read it right: I only ran three days this week. We had a guest, my dear friend Mara, all week, and just couldn’t fit in one run. Luckily, it was the 3 miler.

additional notes: Good run! I had to walk for 2 minutes during mile 2 to reset my lungs basically, but I hoofed it on the final downhill 2 miles. Here are my splits.
Mile 1: 11:10
Mile 2: 12:50 (incl. 2 minutes walking)
Mile 3: 10:08
Mile 4: 9:45

route: Start of Stadtwald Giessen, up to 2-mile marker, back to intersection 5, out to Other Forest 1 mile, back to intersection 5, down Main to beginning

pace per mile: 11’30”
additional notes: What a fun run! It started pouring rain right after we hit the 2-mile marker and just kept coming down the whole time. We loved it. We saw something really sad, though. Right before we crossed the road, after Eulerbrunnen, there was a fawn running along the path. At the particular point, there is a fence that runs along the path. Apparently the deer couldn’t see the silver-gray of the fence because it kept jumping into the fence trying to get away from us. Over and over again. I’m surprised it didn’t get hurt. When we passed back by, though, it was gone, so hopefully it found its way out safely.
