Tuesdays with Linden’s Favorite Links | 9 Aug 2008 (Pt. 2)

Yesterday, I told you what I love about Google Chrome, but today, I’m going to share some of my disappointments.

Google Docs is wonky. Both at home and at the office, when I try to click on a cell, it selects the cell one or two cells above the desired one. I thought Chrome was optimized for Google products. Is anyone else having this problem?

I keep seeing whiteness when I navigate back to a tab. I load an article in one tab, read a bit, switch to a new tab (probably looking up a word), check my email, then go back to the article. No article, just whiteness for two seconds, then the page loads again. Has this happened to you? Let me know in the comments.

Where are my add-ons?! In Firefox, I’ve got FoxClocks, Google Notebook, Remember the Milk for Gmail, Shareaholic, Undo Closed Tabs Button, Web Developer, Diigo Toolbar, and Better Gmail 2. They’re on my laptop and work computer. I’m very used to having their functionalities when I’m browsing, but there aren’t any add-ons yet. Thankfully, my most-used add-on also has a bookmarklet (it’s called a “Diigolet”–isn’t that cute?), so I can bookmark, highlight, and add sticky notes in Chrome just like normal.

“Create application shortcuts…” doesn’t work for me. After watching the Google Chrome press event, I was looking forward to a special window for Gmail and Google Docs which I could launch from the desktop. I’ve tried multiple times on my laptop and at the office and it just doesn’t work. Anyone else having this problem? Let me know in the contents. Maybe I can tweak something and access this feature.

The Easter egg is lame. I liked the Book of Mozilla Easter egg in Firefox/Mozilla, but “Don’t clog the pipes” with my least favorite screen saver ever? Why couldn’t they do something with the flying toasters instead?

Have you tried Google Chrome? What disappointed you? Let us know in the comments.*
