@Lorraine - I totally agree. I love Ben Folds, and I'm so glad he's still making music. I think I like Rockin the Suburbs better than Way to Normal. Then again, I haven't listened to Way to Normal a million times like I have RtS... We'll see how it goes. :)

Here is a list of 10 songs that I either discovered, or re-discovered, over the last year. Like your list, mine contains several songs that came out long before 2008.

1. You Got Lucky by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (this one is probably the oldest on the list)
2. When We Were Young by Dolores O'Riordan (she was the lead singer for The Cranberries)
3. When U Love Someone by Kid Rock (I never thought I could actually like Kid Rock)
4. Twilight Creeps by Crooked Fingers
5. It's Amazing by Jem
6. Lucky by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat
7. Little Toy Gun by Honeyhoney (the song's video features Kiefer Sutherland)
8. Here (in Your Arms) by Hellogoodbye
9. Silver Lining by Rilo Kiley
10. I Decided by Solange

Thank you for sharing your list, Linden. What a fun idea for a post!

@david: Awesome, thanks for sharing! I'm going to have to check some of these out. Some I have been meaning to check out for a while (Rufus Wainwright and Sufjan Stevens) and some just sound interesting since you've recommended them. :) Love "Mad World."

Well, I'm not any more timely than you are, but here's what rocked my world (and zune) this year:

1. Slow Fade -- Casting Crowns
2. Death is the Road to Awe -- Clint Mansell, from the soundtrack for The Fountain
3. Summer Wine -- Lee Hazlewood
4. 18th Floor Balcony -- Blue October (Andrea and I listened to the whole Foiled album together while driving back to Springfield for me to ship off to the Army...)
5. Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk -- Rufus Wainwright
6. The Transfiguration -- Sufjan Stevens
7. Mad World -- Gary Jules

That's not 10, but those are the ones that have really done it for me this year.
