I think you should include time to read the rest of the Sookie Stackhouse books. I love that series!

@Sabre: Thanks! Rob also put down The Lost Symbol, but he's read Angels and Demons and The Davinci Code. Felt like they were all too similar and didn't need to read yet another Davinci Code. :) I need to read The 4-Hour Workweek. Oh, and Getting Things Done! Have you read that?

@Beth: I added a Stephen King to my list. I want to read them in the order he wrote them. I started with Carrie, couldn't find two, then read The Shining. So this year, it's 'Salem's Lot. Rob and I are also listening to Under the Dome together. :) I'm almost finished with Is the Mormon My Brother? and we are going to have to chat about that one!

Linden, you're always so inspiring! I love the idea of pre-selecting the books you're going to read, and your choices look great (I think; not sure about those German titles! hehe!). I also love goodreads, though I haven't been on as frequently as I would have hoped...currently reading Duma Key by Stephen King, and it's excellent as always. Next up: a double-header of books lent to me by a friend...The Tenth Circle and Vanishing Acts, and I'm "reading" (during my commute, anyway) Tess of d'Urbervilles. Pretty good thus far.

I've decided to read one fiction book and one non-fiction book per month this year; that equates to 24! (Right?)

I haven't charted the books or the year out completely; it'll be more of a month-to-month thing. I use the Kindle app on my iPhone to try out samples of books, so my selections will be more spontaneous, based on my impression of the first few free chapters. It's a neat way to do it, I think; I get to sample different styles of writing to help shape my own writing voice, and I can also determine who is worth my time and who isn't (after reading the first five chapters of The Lost Symbol, I'm fairly certain my first encounter with Dan Brown will be my last. Thanks, free sample!)

For January, I'm leaning towards Under the Dome by Stephen King and The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss. (I also just bought Cook This, Not That, but that's more of a using-book than a reading-book, me thinks.)

Good luck with your challenge!
