Time*: 1:11:54 (11:36 pace) If you couldn’t tell from my previous post, I had some high expectations for this race. I didn’t meet any of them, but now that I’ve had about 15 hours to reflect, I’m happy with my showing in today’s race. Let me give you a brief run down–pun intended–of the race [...]

10k Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 2x 28 Jun 2009
So you might have noticed that I did not post a running log yesterday. We had an engagement in the evening 4 miles away, and seeing as how we do not have a car and want to get exercise, we rode our bikes there. In the end, we got 8 miles of exercise yesterday. It [...]
10k Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 2x on 26 Jun 2009
Well, we’ve done it again. We’ve gone off the deep end. Lying awake Thursday night, (remember the time difference) debating whether Michael Jackson was really dead, like TMZ was reporting, or just in a coma, like CNN and the BBC were reporting, Rob suggested something crazy: run twice a day for the next three days to make up for our lack of running this week.
10k Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 12 & 21 Jun 2009
These two runs were great, but in different ways. The first was just perfect running weather, and the second produced a nickname for my husband.
10k Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 4 Jun 2009
Distance: 2x 1mile Time: 8:10 and 10:19 Pace: 8:10 and 10:19 Notes: Today was our first day of speed work and it wasn’t too bad. The wind was blowing pretty hard on the far side of the track. When we left the house for a short warm-up jog the half-mile (in 6:21) to the track, [...]

10k Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 30 May 2009
Today’s run was not a good one, thanks to a dare and fixing the problem caused by that dare. But I pushed through the troubles and came out on top today. Can’t say I’m sad that it’s over, though.
10k Training in Stadtwald Giessen: 27/28 May 2009
Ah, running season. We kinda took October until April off because Germany had a really cold winter and we agreed at the beginning of this German adventure to spend any and all extra money on vacations to London/Liverpool, Prague, and Rome instead of things like gym memberships, cars, new clothes, food, and any other things that aren’t absolute non-essentials.
30-day Running Challenge: Days 1 and 2
Rob suggested last night that maybe we can run 30 days in a row. It’s an idea I’ve been tossing around for a while, so I said yes. Here are the rules.
1. Run every day.
2. Each run must be at least 30 minutes long.
Simple, right? Well, we’ll see. So far, so good. I won’t blog about the challenge every day, but I’ll keep you updated every few days or so.
Berlin Marathon Training in Stadtwald Giessen (and DC and Richmond…): 2 and 1 Weeks Out!
Well, I’m posting this late, but I really would like to have a full record of my marathon training! Rob and I left for a two-week research trip to America on September 9, so I spent the two 1/2 weeks before the marathon running in a new place. Because of some great help, it turned out not to be a problem at all.
