Quote Week, Day 1: Happiness

I collect quotes. They’re free and they make think*: Does it get any better?

It all started with a specially purchased, beautiful diary where I wrote down all my favorite quotes. Later, I moved them to Google Notebook, and now, in true Web 2.0 fashion, I’m migrating my quote collection to Diigo (slowly).

Why I Chose the Agregado WordPress Theme

After re-reading several articles weighing the pros and cons of WordPress and Blogger, I decided that when I bought my own URL, I was going to go with WordPress.org over Blogger (that’s another post for another day). I was more convinced when I tested out buying a URL through Blogger and found out that you have to buy through GoDaddy*. I have nothing against GoDaddy,

LindenAMueller.com Goes Live

Today was very productive. We got all of our American Christmas shopping done, and I finished LindenAMueller.com! Until just a few minutes ago, if you visited LindenAMueller.com, you’d see a diversion. But you should go look at it right now… It’s purty.

Whaddya think? I really like it, and even though it only houses my curriculum vitae, a page of my favorite links, a link to this blog, and a contact form, it’s a significant start.

One Is Silver, The Other Gold

We spent the evening with some friends, and I am constantly reminded of how blessed I am. I have so many dear friends, and I never forget how special that is. Many of my best friends I have known for years and years, but some are relatively new. But it doesn’t matter, because each one of them has changed me and made me a better person, helped make me the woman I am today, and probably in ways that neither of us is fully aware of.

How to Go from Computer Confused to Software Savvy in 5 Easy Steps

How did you learn all this stuff?

I have been asked one too many times, and now I have to explain myself!

Colleagues frequently come to me asking how to insert a scanned image into a Word file or format a document better. Some of my Language Centre tutors shuddered when I decided to use an online time card over a paper version. I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve

It’s Only a Passing Storm

This summer was hard: I was depressed. It wasn’t as deep as I’ve been before, but it was worse than it’s been in a long time. I wasn’t sure what was wrong at first, but slowly, I think I figured it out. Plus, I understand that, just like diabetics need insulin to keep their bodies running normally, sometimes I need pills to get the happy brain chemicals flowing correctly. I understand that, and it helps me deal.

And my husband understands too. You can hide a lot of You from a lot of people,

Should I Stay or Should I Go: The Election Night Party

November 4—four days into NaBloPoMo—and I have writer’s block already. Well, not true writer’s block. I could write pages about the election, about why you should vote, about why people need to be more objective when choosing a candidate, but as a friend of mine said in a Facebook note today

my views about politics are quickly nearing my views on religion and spirituality; they are deeply personal, deserve the utmost contemplation, and should require self-analysis in the process.

In other words, I’m not posting on the election, other than to say Vote! And be informed when you do so!

5 Reasons to Travel by Train

Today was a travel day. After packing our bags and eating a superb “continental breakfast” complete with fresh bread, we made some sandwiches for the trip and started our day by heading into Berlin. (Rob’s mom lives in Bernau bei Berlin, a district in the state of Brandenburg, which surrounds the German state of Berlin.) After a 45-minute ride on the S2 S-Bahn into town, we boarded our ICE (the fastest, most direct trains) to Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. In Kassel, we switche

Why I Love Berlin

Rob and I spent this weekend in Berlin celebrating his mother’s 50th birthday and enjoying our birthday gift from his family (Blue Man Group tickets), and every time we’re here, I’m reminded why I love it so much. I had never been before last August after my interview, but I had always wanted to go. That desire intensified when I met and subsequently fell in love with Rob. He grew up here and absolutely loves this city. Now I know why.

Count me in for NaBloPoMo 2008!

NaBloPoMo? I know exactly what you are thinking: “What the heck does that mean?” It’s National Blog Posting Month and it means that for the month of November, I will be posting one blog post a day. Dr. Cadle (the blogosphere queen, in my book) is doing it, and so is Daily Adventures in a Semi-Boring Life, and it seems like everyone has their own reasons for attempting such a feat, so here are 5 reasons I decided to join in.
