My sweet Ruthie. Mom. Grandma. She had many titles, but by any name, she will always be remembered as a lively, caring, and fun woman. Early on the morning of October 29, 2009, my grandmother’s sleep turned into eternal rest as she succumbed to a heartless disease, one that was as painful for all those who loved her as it was for her. Today would have been her75th birthday, so I wanted to share some memories of a woman who I am just positive was the best grandma a girl could have.

Book Challenge Update: 1 Down, 23 to Go
Be sure to check out the first post in this series, TwLFL: Book Challenge 24 in 20-10.
16 days in and done with the first one–that’s not a bad pace to be on so far.
Sarah and I planned to meet at Sequiota Park to run this morning and I was ready a few minutes early, so I read while waiting for her. She had some car trouble, so I ended up having enough time to finish Is the Mormon My Brother? before setting out on a 5 miler. Here’s a brief review of the book, plus a little glance ahead at what is next on my Book Challenge List.

2010 New Year’s Resolutions
As I begin the adventure of 20-10, I am going to try to do three things. The first is for my own sanity, productivity, and self-discipline. The second is for the most important connections in my life. The third, well, actually it is
I’m Back: What I’ve Been Up To
Oh man, have I been bad at blogging lately! I’ll tell you why in this post, and then in the next week or so, I’ll try to make up for it. It has been a long time since I last posted a Tuesday Link post, and I apologize! But there will be at least a few more in the weeks ahead as I explore some of the This I Believe essays that touch me.
This I Believe is a project that Edward R. Murrow begin in the early 1950s on NPR (you can listen to his original This I Believe introduction here). It asks people to name a belief that
8 Things: I’ve Been Tagged
I don’t usually post survey-type memes on this blog (for me, those usually belong in a Facebook note), but after being tagged by both Sarah and Teresa, I just couldn’t hold out any longer.
Linden vs. Tuesday
In the rich tradition of Katy vs. Wednesday and Sarah vs. Monday, Linden enters the ring with Tuesday.
Tuesday, May 5, was a pretty icky day for Linden. In the end, Tuesday won, but not without a fight from Linden. Here’s our match breakdown.
Roman Holiday, Part 1 Post: Now with Videos
I finally got the video uploading problems all sorted out, so I’ve added three videos to yesterday’s post on the churches Rob and I visited in Rome: One of Pope Benedict XVI speaking during Chrism Mass, one of an organist practicing at All Saints’ Anglican Church, and another of a capella singing at Trinità dei [...]
Roman Holiday, Part 1: A Church on Every Corner
We visited between 30 and 40 churches, most of which were Renaissance style: Painted or carved ceilings, marble statues, lots of arches and columns, and in some, lots and lots of gold. Unlike most of the German churches I’ve been in, there wasn’t a lot of intricate stained glass windows. Ah, buy why am I telling you about it? Here are some pictures.
